FireStarter Uses Chainlink VRF for Fair Distribution of Rewards
FireStarter integrates Chainlink VRF for a new explorative NFT experience.
With the launch of Hiro, and the soon to be released FireStarter’s Champion NFT’s approaching, community members have been eagerly awaiting news of the ecosystem’s operating principles. We’re excited to announce that we have integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) to help ensure a fair distribution of exclusive content, NFTs, and other platform benefits between Champion NFT holders. Hiro and The FireStarter Metaverse Champions, will help user access different tiers and community perks of the IMO funding process.
By integrating Chainlink VRF, players can have verifiable proof that the distribution of prizes is fair, and outcomes cannot be manipulated by players, the oracles, or the Firestarter team.
Chainlink VRF is an oracle-powered service that provides smart contracts with a secure and verifiable source of on-chain randomness. Smart contract developers can use Chainlink VRF as a tamper-proof RNG to build reliable smart contracts for any applications which rely on fair and unpredictable outcomes.
After reviewing various techniques for random number generation, we chose Chainlink VRF because it provides strong proof around the integrity of the RNG process. Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. Firestarter’s smart contracts will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, and cryptographic proofs can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. This provides our players with automated and publicly verifiable proof directly on-chain that each reward distribution process using Chainlink VRF for randomness is secure, provably fair, and unpredictable by all participants.
Ultimately, having access to a verifiable source of unbiased randomness helps ensure the integrity of Firestarter, giving all users a fair opportunity to attain exclusive content, NFTs, and other platform benefits. Stay tuned for many future distributions that use Chainlink VRF!
